| Varanasi the holy city

In the past the city was also called Kashi and Benares, but now the
present name is the revival of the earlier version. Varanasi means the

Vishwanath Temple
The sacred Hindu temple in Varanasi and also called the Golden Temple.

Durga Temple
Built in the 18 th century by a Bengali maharani. It is built in the
north Indian Nagara style.
Tulsi Manas Temple
Built in 1964 in the marble shikara style. The walls are engraved with
the verses and scenes of the Ramayana.
Ram Nagar Fort & Museum
The other sight seeing in Varanasi includes the 17 th century fort
of the raja of Benares looks impressive form across the river. The museum
contains brocades, howdahs, astrological clocks and many other things.
Shopping in Varanasi would be a good option for the tourist. Varanasi
is famous for silk brocades and saris (Benaras saris). Here one can
