Fatehpur Sikri
Located at a distance of 37 kms from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri
is a fine example to show the mixture of Muslim and Hindu
architecture. Akbar builds this Red Sandstone building during
1571 and 1585. This building also has a mosque known as Fatehpur
Sikri Mosque, whose entrance is through the 54m high Buland
Darwaza.
Akbar's Mausoleum
Located four kilometers from Agra is the mausoleum of Akbar,
a perfect example of architecture blending. This structure
is a confluence of Hindu, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist and
Jain motifs.
Jami or Jama Masjid
Shah Jahan built this mosque in 1648 but the inscription
on the main gate of mosque bears the name of Jahanara Begum-
the favorite daughter of Shah Jahan.
Chini-Ka-Rauza
A memorial dedicated to poet-scholar and later Prime Minister
of Shah Jahan, Allama Afzel Khal Mullah Shukrullah of Shiraz.
Dayal Bagh Temple
Located 15 km away from Agra, Dayal Bagh has samadhi of the
founder of Radha Swami faith, “Swamiji Maharaj”. Also known
by the name of Soamibagh, this building is 110 feet in height
and built in pure white marble.
Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb
Nur Jahan built this tomb during 1622 and 1628 for his father
and Chief Minister of Jehangir- the Mughal ruler, Ghias-ud-Din
Beg. This tomb contains delicate latticework of marble, which
makes it attractive and captivating. Nur Jahan again builds
a tomb on the similar basis for Jehangir in Lahore. This tomb
was the first complete Mughal structure in marble.
