Day 01: Mumbai
On your arrival at Mumbai airport on the day One of the Spices
and Backwaters Tour Itinerary, an India Tour Guides representative
will meet and assist you to check into a hotel for an overnight
stay.
Day 02: Mumbai
After breakfast, the sightseeing tour will begin. You will
visit the famous Gateway of India, Colaba Causeway, Mani Bhawan,
Dhobi Ghat, Towers of Silence, Kamla Nehru Park, Hanging Gardens
and Marine Drive. Enjoy a boat ride to the Elephanta Island
and then go shopping at the Crawford Market. Return to the
hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 03: Mumbai -Cochin - Periyar
On the third day, catch a flight to Cochin, from where you
will driven to the hotel. After a little relaxation, visit
the Chinese Fishing Nets, Jewish Synagogue The Dutch Palace
and the Portuguese Churches. Late in the evening, drive down
to Periyar where you will stay overnight at the Spice Village
Resort.
Day 04: Periyar
After breakfast, head out to the famous Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
for a date with pristine nature. Enjoy the jungle treks and
game watching and then go on a boat ride on the Periyar Lake.
After lunch at the Spice Village, go on nature treks to the
spice plantations located close by. In the evening, drive
out to the Coconut Lagoon Resort in Kumarakom.
Day 05: Periyar - Kumarakom
Spend a lazy morning at the resort, basking in the shade of
the coconut groves. After having some canoe rides, check into
your very own personal houseboat that will take you on a romantic
trip of the Kumarakom backwaters. Overnight, sleep under the
stars while floating gently on the backwaters aboard the houseboat.
Day 06: Kumarakom - Mararikulam
Enjoy your breakfast on board the rice barge while sailing
to Alleppey. At Alleppey, disembark at the Puthenagady Jetty
from where you will be driven to Mararikulam. After check
in, the rest of the day is at your disposal, to do whatever
you want.
Day 07: Mararikulam
The itinerary of the day will lead you to a sightseeing tour
of the prime tourist attractions in Mararikulam. Visit the
Mararikum fishing village and get a taste of the local culture.
Spend the rest of the day at the Marari beach. Return to the
hotel for an overnight stay
Day 08: Mararikulam - Marari - Cochin
On the penultimate day of the Spices and Backwaters Tour,
you will be driven back to Kochi. After check in, catch up
on your shopping during the day. Late afternoon, enjoy a harbor
cruise Come back to the hotel in evening and enjoy an interesting
cultural extravaganza and a Kathakali dance performance. Retire
for the night.
Day 09: Cochin - Mumbai
The end of the Spices and Backwater Tour will be marked by
your being driven to the Cochin airport so that you may board
you flight to Mumbai from where a connecting flight will take
you back home.
